One of my favourite cars from Gran Turismo in the olden days was the Nissan Skyline GT-R R32. They date around 1990-1994 and have an incredibly familiar silhouette. More striking for me is the rear of the car, with the circular tail-lights, which frankly looked incredible in GT2 (where it first appeared).
As a kid I loved it. The not-so-black dark grey colour. The audio cues from the engine notes. And the handling as a touring car.
Today, probably for the same reason I covet it, the car is deeply loved and sought after. Which is irritating because as I consider a "daddy car" in the near future, an R32 would be ideal for me. Something to mind, upgrade and bring to car shows. And infinitely cheaper than any Porsche I would ever find. But getting a good one from Japan or finding one domestically is expensive and contains a lot of trap doors.
This morning, and the reason I'm writing this, I found one listed in Ireland. Perfect looking car that has a great engine and no obvious problems. And it's a bit shabby (nothing a good deep clean and some TLC couldn't solve). But given it's a "POA" listing, it's probably an insane price that makes no sense for a 1990 car.
So then I loaded up my PC, which is attached to my sim rig in my home office. And got to driving an R32 around Tokyo with other online players. Bliss.
